The One by the Canal 2026

The One by the Canal is a point-to-point trail half marathon following the Grand Union Canal from Cowley near Uxbridge to Watford. Starting at Cowley Recreation Ground and finishing in Cassiobury Park, runners complete the full 21.1 km in a one-way journey. Organised by OneRace Events, this morning race is a runnable off-road event featuring chip timing, hydration stations, bag storage, toilets, food and drink, and medical support. Entry is open to runners aged 17 and over. The route traces one of the UK’s longest waterways, utilizing canal towpaths, woodland trails, country paths, and sections through nature reserves. It passes Uxbridge, Denham, Harefield, and Rickmansworth before concluding in Watford. The terrain is predominantly flat, favoring steady running over technical trail skills. This event is suitable for road runners new to trails, club runners seeking an efficient half marathon, and individuals preferring a quieter race away from city streets. Finishers are awarded sustainable wooden medals, a detail aligning with the event's canal-side, understated character.
