The Thetford Festival of Running returns for its second year, hosted at High Lodge in Thetford Forest, near Brandon. This lap-based event offers 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, and ultra distances on a flat forest loop. Runners starting earlier have six hours to complete their chosen distance, while a later start provides four hours, allowing the event to function as both a set-distance race and a timed challenge.
The course consists of repeated laps of approximately 5K along forest paths and woodland trails within the High Lodge grounds. The self-contained main area, with exclusive event use and ample open space, offers a more intimate and social atmosphere compared to large road races. This format accommodates a range of participants, from first-time 5K runners to marathon regulars, ultra runners, and those seeking to achieve milestones, including one runner who completed her 201st marathon at this event.
