The Watchtree Half Marathon is a half marathon held at Watchtree Nature Reserve, near Carlisle. It begins at 10:00 AM, and participants must be at least 17 years old. This is the longest event in Watchtree's running series, intended for runners seeking a 13.1-mile challenge rather than a large-city atmosphere or a fast, flat course.
The course follows quiet country lanes surrounding the reserve, featuring gradual inclines and rolling terrain rather than steep ascents. Marshals and water stations are positioned along the route. For safety reasons, headphones and dogs are prohibited. All finishers receive a medal. Runners who also complete the Watchtree 5K and 10K within the same series are awarded a medal hanger. Spectators can find activities at the reserve, including cycling, karts, nature walks, orienteering, and a café.
