The Wilmslow Autumn Triathlon takes place at Wilmslow Leisure Centre on Station Road. Competitors begin with a swim in an indoor heated pool, not open water. This autumn swim-bike-run event is designed for beginners and novice triathletes. The Double Sprint Challenge offers a longer course for more experienced racers. The standard Sprint involves a 400 m swim, a 19.65 km bike ride, and a 6.3 km run. The Double Sprint doubles the swim to 800 m, extends the bike to 36.74 km, and concludes with a 12.6 km run.
The swim consists of 16 pool lengths for the Sprint and 32 for the Double Sprint, making the initial leg manageable and clear for triathlon newcomers. The bike route combines suburban roads with rural Cheshire lanes, passing areas like Morley Green and Mobberley. It features flat, flowing sections and a few minor climbs. The run is on mixed terrain but not particularly steep, with standard trainers generally being adequate. Participants can also opt for Aquabike, Aquathlon, or a relay with friends, accommodating both solo competitors and small teams. All finishers receive a medal, chip-timed results, photos, showers, changing facilities, goody bags, and are eligible for prize categories.
