The Esztergom Half Marathon starts and finishes near the Basilica and Szent Istvan ter, with the race hub at Balassa School. Castle Hill and Water Town define the course, which is a local event, functional with varied footing. Close enough to the river, the Danube cycle path integrates into the day's activities.
The course features a "mixed road surface - cobblestone, asphalt, gravel road and dirt road." Expect some rougher terrain early on, followed by mostly flat asphalt, and a short cobblestone ascent near the finish. Runners will experience "running back and forth on a narrow cycle lane," along with irregular pace changes from cobbles and ramps. Younger children participate in short races, where "small feet receive gifts." Registered Pentathlon runners can earn points at designated program stations, which are "redeemed for guaranteed rewards over time."
