The Bencés Apátság Illyés Gyula school places you on the peninsula just before the climbing begins, with Lake Balaton always nearby. This fourth edition is a trail runner’s race: "truly varied and tough terrain" across the horizon, a course that seems quiet on paper but challenges you once your shoes are dirty. Expect a demanding, outdoorsy run over mixed ground. The short-course surprise is the opportunity to "climb the highest 'mountain' of the peninsula," Csúcs-hegy. Depending on winter conditions, the unique aspect can be deep mud, deep snow, or a frozen Balaton with iced paths, contributing to its "simply indescribably beautiful and tough" reputation.
