Szigligeti Strand places the race center waterside, with all starts originating from the beach. The V. Szigligeti Félmaraton has a local, established character: running since 2016, connected to Balaton running traditions, and large enough to be called "the Balaton's largest half marathon." It also favors a welcoming atmosphere over formality, including children, pairs, trios, and families in the event.
The course uses laps: an initial longer loop returns runners to the race center for relay handoffs, followed by two shorter loops to complete the race. Participants "run through the Hungarian Monte Carlo," approach the finish via the small parking area west of the beach, and are supported by regular aid stations. The distinctive features are genuine: it is a "green race and dog-friendly race," offering childcare, dog refreshments, a post-finish treat, "unique long-sleeved jersey and handmade medals," and glass awards instead of plastic ones.
