Zemplén Trail

Kossuth tér serves as the starting point for a mountain running event in the "heart of Zemplén," originating in 2009 as the Magashegyi Futóverseny. Renamed Zemplén Trail in 2018, it retains the feel of a local trail race: categories for younger runners and separate men's and women's fields for those over 14, all starting together instead of using a structured wave system. The running involves short to serious hill work, with climbs ranging from a quick 225 m to a challenging 920 m, depending on the selected race. Gear is transported from the start to the finish. Showers and changing facilities are available at Zemplén Kalandpark, and the finish area offers practical amenities. A notable tradition is the reward for every finisher: a bob ticket for the adventure park's unique track, along with a special anniversary running medal.
