Antico Trail del Contrabbandiere

The Antico Trail del Contrabbandiere begins at Parco delle Rose in Pove del Grappa, a village in Veneto situated below Monte Grappa near the Brenta Canal. This mountain trail race, typically held in early June, features a primary short course of approximately 24 km, alongside longer mountain options that have previously included 40 km with around 2,500 m of elevation gain and 51 km. A 10 km non-competitive run is also offered for those seeking the trails without the competitive aspect. The course crosses historic mountain paths, notably the Alta Via del Tabacco, a route linked to the historical tobacco and smuggling trails of the Brenta region. Participants run under semi-self-sufficiency rules, requiring preparedness for genuine mountain terrain rather than a road race with continuous aid. Organized by EMMERUNNING TEAM, the event contributes to the UTMB Index and has become a fixture in the Bassano area's trail-running schedule, recognized as a local tradition with previous editions well-documented through extensive photographic and video records.
