HERO Südtirol Dolomites is a challenging mountain bike marathon held in Selva Val Gardena, known as Wolkenstein in Gröden, situated in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Participants start at an altitude of 1,564 meters in the Dolomites. Route options include 60 km and 86 km distances. The longer course involves 4,500 meters of climbing, and the 60 km course features 3,200 meters of ascent. The event is also featured on the HERO UCI Cross-Country Marathon World Cup schedule, attracting both elite competitors and dedicated amateur mountain bikers.
The courses traverse the Sella massif, incorporating the well-known Dolomite passes of Gröden, Campolongo, Pordoi, and Sella. This is a demanding race, presenting riders with extended climbs, technical descents, and varied mountain terrain across the Ladin valleys of the Sellaronda region and the Seiser Alm. The marathon takes place the day before the Sellaronda Bike Day, and a HERO KIDS event is organized for younger participants. Racers select their chosen distance during registration, with no possibility to alter it afterward.
