NuMaS, the Nuraghes Marathon Sardinia, is a spring running event in Sardinia featuring a full 42.195 km marathon, a four-person relay, and a 5 km race. The series runs through locations connected to the island’s ancient Nuragic history, with editions scheduled in areas like Cabras-Oristano, Barumini, and the Nuraghi Valley in Mejlogu.
The marathon is accompanied by a relay where four runners cover the distance in legs of 10 km, 11.097 km, 11.097 km, and 10 km, passing a baton between sections. The Cabras-Oristano course takes runners into the Sinis Peninsula, past the Cabras lagoon, the ruins of Tharros, and a landscape reflecting approximately 4,000 years of Mediterranean history. The event is for runners seeking more than a city road race: marathoners, relay teams, and 5 km participants all follow a route closely linked to Sardinian archaeology, coastal scenery, and local food traditions such as bottarga and fresh fish.
