La Diabolica

La Diabolica is a two-day cycling and running event in and around Asti and Montemarzo in Piedmont, held in early June. It offers gravel riding, road cycling, running, and a non-competitive walk, not built around one single race format. The name refers to Giovanni Gerbi, the Asti rider nicknamed the Diavolo Rosso, and the event embraces that old-school cycling spirit: hills, local roads, and the option to test yourself without making every part compulsory. The main bike routes are both about 60 km with roughly 1,000 m of climbing. The Diavolo Rosso gravel loop uses mixed surfaces through the Asti hills, while the Coppa Citta di Asti road route follows roads tied to local cycling history and to Luciano Cerrato, longtime patron of that race name. Riders can also add the timed Gerbido climb, a local climb that reaches a brutal 32% on its steepest section. Piazza Roma, Montemarzo, awards, and the event village give it a local festival atmosphere rather than a closed-off competition for specialists only.
