La Fabio Casartelli

The Fabio Casartelli begins in Albese con Cassano, Como province, Lombardy, and takes place in July. It is a road-cycling event organized by the Fondazione Fabio Casartelli. Its current rally format divides the day into transfer and timed sections, meaning riders do not race every kilometer. The event is also a stage of the Trofeo dello Scalatore System Cars - Fabio Fabiani. The long route covers 114 km with 1,575 m of elevation gain, with medium and short options of 75 km and 58 km. The timed climbs are the Madonna del Ghisallo and the Muro di Sormano, significant ascents for cyclists near Lake Como. The short route is open to riders with non-competitive fitness certificates and pedal-assist bikes. Prizes are awarded for the timed climbs (men, women, and mixed couples), team rankings (minimum five classified riders), and a regularity race on the short route.
