The Maratona di Catania (Naturosa) is a road race held in December in Catania, located on Sicily's east coast. Participants can select from a 10.5 km run, a half marathon, or the full marathon, accommodating those seeking a short, fast effort, a standard long-distance race, or a complete 42.195 km challenge.
The course is structured as a loop. The marathon consists of four laps of slightly more than 10.5 km, while the half marathon comprises two laps of the same circuit. The route combines urban sections with seafront stretches, featuring Mount Etna as a backdrop. The 10.5 km race is noted as the most frequently chosen distance. Following the race, attendees are directed to explore Etna, the ancient theaters of Taormina, the beaches of Giardini Naxos, and Catania's eateries for local specialties like arancini or granita.
