Run51 takes place within the military airport at Istrana, near Treviso, on the grounds of the Italian Air Force’s 51st Wing. This solidarity road run is organized by the 51st Wing and the Montello Runners Club. An early edition attracted approximately 5,000 participants. The race begins in the morning and is popular locally with runners from the Treviso area, while also drawing competitive athletes with international racing experience.
The course remains entirely within the airport, with a section of the route utilizing the same taxiways and takeoff areas used by Eurofighters. The day commences with a flag-raising ceremony and the playing of the Italian national anthem, followed by an aviation display: a historic aircraft from the Jonathan Collection produces smoke in the colors of the Italian flag. The charitable aspect is significant, with proceeds divided between the Air Force’s “A Gift from the Sky” project, which supports Rome’s Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital, and La Nostra Famiglia in Conegliano, an organization focused on rehabilitation for individuals with disabilities, particularly children.
