Trail del Moscato begins in Santo Stefano Belbo, Italy, within the Piedmont region's Langhe wine country, known for Moscato d’Asti. Held around mid-September, the event centers on trail running, offering distances from a 10 km course to the Magistra Langarun 100 k. This main ultra covers just under 110 km with 5,449 meters of elevation gain. Other timed races include Lavorare Stanca, approximately 54 km with 3,070 meters of gain, and Paesi Tuoi, about 21 km with 1,130 meters of gain, featuring slightly more descent than ascent.
The routes traverse vineyards and natural trails, avoiding urban streets, meaning even the shorter distances require significant uphill effort. The event also accommodates walkers, Nordic walkers, an enogastronomic walk, and a children's race, contributing to a local festival atmosphere rather than solely an ultra-running focus. The race titles carry a literary connection: Lavorare Stanca and Paesi Tuoi are derived from works by Cesare Pavese, a native of Santo Stefano Belbo. The organizers clarify that Trail del Moscato is not a tribute to a specific beverage but a trail running event set within the Moscato landscape.
