Turin Marathon

The Turin Marathon begins and ends in Piazza Castello, the main square of Italy's first capital city. This annual road marathon takes place in Turin, Italy, every November. Alongside the full 42.195 km race, shorter public events are also offered. The primary race includes a competitive category for athletes registered with a federation and a non-competitive category for public runners who have passed a medical examination. Professional international runners compete alongside Italian athletes, and runners from East Africa have frequently featured at the front of the field. The marathon follows a loop course starting from the city center and extending into the broader Turin region. It passes through locations such as Moncalieri, Nichelino, Beinasco, Orbassano, Rivalta, Rivoli, and Collegno before concluding back at Piazza Castello. Organizers characterize the course as very fast and flat, featuring city streets, historical landmarks, parks, villages, castles, and former industrial zones. Race day also features the Stratorino fun run and walk, a junior marathon for children, and more recent shorter race options including a half marathon and a 5 km race. Turin hosted marathon races well before the current event, including the Turin International Marathon from 1919 to 1933 and a city marathon recorded even earlier in 1897.
