The 24-hour Green Charity Relay Marathon in Tokyo Yumenoshima is an all-day, all-night relay at Koto Ward Yumenoshima Stadium, located a five-minute walk from Shin-Kiba Station. The primary event is a team relay where participants pass a tasuki sash and run for 24 hours. Teammates can determine the running order, lap counts, and changeover times. Shorter relay options are available for 12, 6, or 4 hours. The program also features individual relay categories, a 10 km run, and 1.3 km family and kids' runs. It accommodates a wide range of participants, from those seeking a shared challenge for the first time to experienced runners aiming to test their endurance.
The course utilizes Yumenoshima Stadium and adjacent park paths, offering a compact venue for looping rather than a city-wide route. The 24-hour relay takes teams through afternoon, night, and into the following morning, integrating pacing, rest, nutrition, and handoffs as key components alongside running speed. This event marks its 21st year and is organized by the Green Charity Relay Marathon Executive Committee. Its charitable aspect is directly connected to the running; donations fund greening and environmental conservation efforts, with the contribution amount based on the total laps completed.
