The Geuzenloop Zoetermeer is the city’s largest running race, starting and finishing on the Pilatusdam in the historic center. Organized by Road Runners Zoetermeer and Sportief Wandelgroep Zoetermeer, this local September event offers 5 km, 10 km, and half marathon distances. A children’s program includes a mile for ages 5 to 13 and a half-mile for ages 2 to 9.
The 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km routes traverse Old and New Zoetermeer, transitioning from city streets to greener areas, including the former Floriade site and the Balijbos. The race features a practical city-course setup with cutoff times for each distance and closed roads and crossings. The half-mile children’s race includes a family-friendly detail: one adult can run with the child using a companion bib marked “Grote Geus,” without needing a separate entry.
