Airborne Freedom Run

The Airborne Freedom Run takes place in September in Arnhem, focusing on the city’s Airborne history and the 1944 Battle of Arnhem. Participants can select from 5 km and 10 km road races, 21 km, 28 km, 44 km, and 60 km trail runs, alongside specific categories for companies, children, students, military personnel, and veterans. The event has a cap of 10,000 participants, making it a large-scale event that remains closely linked to the local commemoration of freedom. The routes traverse historic areas in and near Arnhem, passing significant World War II locations and other local landmarks. The 60 km trail extends to Ede, and the Mini Airborne Freedom Run begins and ends at Marktplein in central Arnhem, featuring age-group races from 350 m to 1000 m. The event’s core message is clear: run for freedom, recall past events, and pay tribute to those involved in this history.
