Devil's Trail Utrechtse Heuvelrug begins at the recreation area Het Doornse Gat, located between Doorn and Leersum in the Dutch province of Utrecht. This trail-running event, held in early October, features routes through sections of National Park De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Participants can select from a KidsTrail for younger runners around age 12, or races of 8, 16, 26, and 36 km, in addition to the Duivelse Ultra, which is approximately 160 km.
The courses are marked with ropes, with splits indicated by signs. The routes are verified on the morning of the event, and participants are provided with GPX files about a week in advance. The ultra race embraces the Devil's Trail theme, consisting of 24 laps of 6.66 km, followed by a final lap of about 7.77 km. Aid stations differ based on distance; shorter races have one stop, while longer races include several. Supplies offered may include salt, licorice, orange, and water. The event is cup-free, requiring runners to carry their own bottle or cup, and registration is limited to 1,000 participants.
