Julians Fiets- en Wandeltocht begins at 9:30 AM in Smeerling, at Gasterij Natuurlijk Smeerling in Onstwedde, with the same location serving as the break and finish point. This event functions more as a charity ride-and-walk day than a competition. Competitive cyclists can select between 45 or 90 km routes, while touring cyclists have a 50 km option, and walkers can choose a route of approximately 10 km. TFC de Windhappers and Stichting Wandelen in Westerwolde organize the event, with proceeds benefiting the Julians Stichting, which supports research at the Prinses Maxima Centrum for childhood brain tumors.
The routes for racing bikes are not marked with arrows; participants navigate using a GPX file. The touring route, however, is arrow-marked and divided into two 25 km loops, accommodating e-bikes, city bikes, tricycles, and standard touring bikes. Brouwerij Westerwolde is situated along this route, offering a potential stopping point. The walking route is also divided into two fully marked loops, encircling Smeerling. This event carries local historical significance, having been organized for many years by Refaja Ziekenhuis under the name Refaja Fietst before a hiatus and its subsequent revival as Julians.
