OER.cross Havelterberg is a cross-country race on the wooded, hilly Havelte-West training grounds near Havelterberg, on land many people still associate with the former American base. It is not a road race: runners deal with sand, rooty paths, unpaved ground, and repeated changes in height across a set of looped course sections.
The event offers youth races over 0.5, 1, and 2 km, plus 5.5 km and 8 km options for adults, with age categories for younger runners and separate men’s and women’s fields. AV de Sprinter organizes it, the start is at Ruiterweg 39 in Havelterberg, and the field is capped at 750 participants with no late entry. The appeal is straightforward: it suits runners who want a tough, technical cross where footing, strength, and fitness all matter.
