The Oliebollenloop is a relaxed fun run held in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen near Vogelenzang, organized by IJsclub Haarlem. Participants can select from 5 km, 10 km, or approximately 20 km distances. The event welcomes participants of all ages, focusing on enjoyment rather than intense competition. The atmosphere is intentionally understated; while individuals may challenge themselves, the competitive spirit is subdued. Previous iterations of the event even omitted bib numbers, with runners recording their own finish times post-race.
The courses begin near the De Oase entrance on 1e Leijweg. Each distance follows a single, expansive loop, ensuring participants do not retrace their steps. The trails are noted for being easy to run. Course maps and timing services are provided. A distinctly Dutch tradition follows the finish: runners receive a drink and an oliebol. The entry fee covers access to the dunes. Parking is restricted, and organizers encourage arrival by bicycle or public transport.
