The Snertloop is an annual run and walk in Krimpen aan den IJssel, a town in South Holland near the Krimpenerwaard. It is usually held in early winter and is organized by local athletics club AV-MTK. The name comes from snert, Dutch pea soup, fitting the cold-season timing and giving the event a local flavor. Runners can choose from several distances, including a half marathon, while walkers also have a place in the program.
The routes use the green surroundings of the Krimpenerwaard and mix paved sections with unpaved paths, making the day varied. The field includes recreational runners, serious club runners, walkers, and faster athletes from nearby towns; recent winners came from Maasland and Lekkerkerk. Conditions can be crisp, and one recent edition had fresh sunlit weather, suiting the winter soup-race idea.
