The TKP Tocht van Groningen sends riders from Groningen along the province's edge, featuring a 330 km road-bike route starting and ending in the city. This supported cycling tour through the Groninger Ommelanden is for riders who enjoy a long day on a race bike. The series also offers an MTB tour from the Suikerunieterrein, utilizing paths and mixed terrain near Groningen.
On the road route, riders depart Groningen via Hoornse Plas and Paterswoldsemeer, heading southeast toward the Groninger Veenkoloniën. This region, shaped by 17th-century peat cutting and its resulting canals, features the linear villages of Musselkanaal and Stadskanaal before reaching Ter Apel. The route then follows the Groningen-Drenthe and Groningen-Germany borders. Meanwhile, the MTB version remains near the city, incorporating urban edges, natural areas, and varied surfaces.
