Brunlanesløpet takes place in July outside Nesjarhallen in Helgeroa, on Norway's Brunlanes coast. The program begins around midday with a 1 km children's race for participants up to age 11. This is followed by a 4.6 km walk, a 4.6 km run, and a 9 km run. The children's and walking races are untimed, accommodating families and walkers alongside runners aiming for a specific time.
The courses feature light terrain, primarily gravel roads and trails through natural areas near Nevlunghavn, Mølen, and Helgeroa. Participants are divided into men's and women's age classes from 12-16 up to 80-85, giving the event a broad local-club character rather than an exclusive elite focus. All finishers receive a medal. The fastest woman and man in both the short and long runs get special prizes, and an additional participant prize is drawn by start number. The results archive extends back through multiple editions, confirming this as a recurring event.
