GlommaDyppen sends swimmers down the fast-flowing Glomma, Norway's longest river, in August. The series is based at Fetsund Lenser near Oslo, where old timber-floating booms now serve as an outdoor swimming arena. It includes three river races: the 2 km Loffer'n, the 6 km Elvenokken, and the 11 km Floter'n.
The idea began after a Halv-Fet Triathlon evaluation meeting, then developed after an early swim from Guttersrud down to Fetsund Lenser. A work crew at the timber booms remarked that the trip was redundant as bus and train could cover the same distance, but the swim persuaded the organizers to establish a race around the location. Fetsund Lenser is a national heritage monument, timber-floating museum, and nature centre, and the timber booms at Fetsund and Bingen are the only remaining ones of their kind globally.
