Knyken Rundt is a forest running race in Knykmarka, held on a Sunday in August. The event has a long local history, with its 45th edition already run, and it uses separate distances by age: 2 km for runners aged 10-14, 5 km for 15-19, and 10 km for adults aged 20 and over. Recent rain can make the forest course heavy underfoot, so this is not a fast road-style outing in the woods.
The youngest runners race the 2 km loop, juniors step up to 5 km, and the adult fields race 10 km. The start list can get extra energy from the summer ski and biathlon camps held in Knyken; many young biathletes joined the race during one camp weekend. Trond Ørjan Eide has run the 10 km in just under 40 minutes, while Trude Nonstad Fornes won the women's class, and Eira Oves was among the top junior women over 5 km.
