RUNWAY 5K

Runway 5K is a unique race held at Kjeller Airport, near Oslo, where participants run on the airport grounds. The event takes place in June and features a 5K, a 10K, a wheelchair race, and the Runway Mini for children. RunwayK is the organizer, and the course is flat and fast, suitable for steady runners and those aiming for a fast finish. The airport's history is a key aspect of this race. Kjeller Airport, established in 1912 as a military airfield, is Norway's oldest and among the world's oldest operational airports. It holds significant importance in Norwegian aviation history; Roald Amundsen obtained his pilot's license there before incorporating aviation into his polar exploration. The race offers participants a distinct opportunity to run on an active historic runway, rather than just near it.
