The Saltholmen SwimRun Challenge begins at the historic town hall in Lillesand, on Norway’s southern coast. Racers navigate an archipelago of small islands, skerries, and fjords. This is a swimrun race, meaning competitors alternate between running on land and swimming in open water.
The event offers a Sprint race and an Experience race, with full and halfway distances available for the Experience format. The course leads towards Saltholmen Lighthouse and returns, using markers, tape, and paint for guidance. Safety personnel are stationed on land and water to monitor the swims. A notable hazard is the Blindleia crossing, identified by the organizer as Norway’s busiest waterway, which has additional safety staff.
