Sandnes Ultra Trail

Sandnes Ultra Trail is a spring trail-running series in Sandnes, Norway, offering races from a children’s run and 10 km up to 25 km, 43 km, 50 miles, and 100 miles. The longest race is serious mountain-ultra territory, serving as a Hardrock 100 qualifier with a small field expected to finish. The event, which began in 2021, takes place in the Sandnes mountains, with trails crossing fjord viewpoints, forest paths, lakes, and rugged technical terrain. The 100-mile course covers at least 28 mountains and peaks, distinguishing it from flat ultras with scenic additions. Runners may swim in several lakes along the routes, reflecting the race's outdoor focus. Aid stations are managed by experienced volunteers, and the finish area fosters a social atmosphere with grilled meat or vegan hamburgers and a bonfire for cheering finishers. The organizers also calculate the event’s climate footprint, provide optional Trail Cred, and fundraise for old-growth forest protection at Stemmetjønn, a Fossagrim Habitat Forest.
