Steinsland Bygdemaraton

The Steinsland Bygdemaraton Ogge rondt begins in the farmyard of Odd Gunnar Tveit, leading runners onto a demanding rural marathon course. This is a local, practical race, featuring kiosk sales at the start and finish, with 10 drinking stations positioned along the route. Friends and neighbors manage the race, supported by volunteers staffing the drink stations for extended periods. An uncommon tradition involves bib numbering: runners with high numbers have finished numerous marathons, and their bib displays their career marathon total. Harald Sel, for instance, has completed 402 marathons, one of the highest counts among Norwegian marathon runners. Participants walking can also join, starting earlier, and the organizer provides assistance with transport from the airport or train station and accommodation when necessary.
