Trondheim Marathon
Trondheim Marathon, Norway's oldest marathon, takes place each autumn in Trondheim. It originated as the Student Marathon in 1969 before adopting the Trondheim Marathon name. This gives it a history longer than many Norwegian road races, while still welcoming everyday runners alongside specialists. The course winds through the city center, allowing participants and onlookers to see Trondheim up close rather than venturing far out. The event's public-health focus is notably clear: it targets individuals from 0 to 99 years old and promotes training via running groups, talks on running and nutrition, and year-round training facilities. Recent course additions include 5 km, 10 km, and half marathon distances alongside the full marathon. Practice runs with pacers at various speeds are offered so runners can try the race setup before the official event.
