Mount Bruce Hall serves as the central point, hosting parking, the start, and the post-run gathering. From this base, the race proceeds onto a rural course in the Kiriwhakapapa area. This cross country outing focuses on footing, flags, and honest running rather than elaborate arrangements. For the 2026 ACM Cross Country Race 3, the emphasis is on club-country: practical, outdoorsy, and suited for runners who prefer a straightforward course without excessive ceremony.
The route is marked with flags and arrows. Optional early starts are available for those needing extra time on the course. Participants can expect a clearly marked course with various distances, allowing beginners, families, regular runners, and experienced cross country athletes to participate comfortably without compromising the event's no-nonsense character. The finish returns participants to Mount Bruce Hall for morning tea, featuring the distinctively Kiwi tradition of participants bringing a plate to share.
