The Botanic Gardens Trail, Auckland is a trail run and walk held in September, starting at the Auckland Botanic Gardens on Hill Road in The Gardens, south Auckland. It begins at 9:00 a.m. and features three distances: a 5km short course, a 10.8km mid course, and a 14.5km long course. This event is suitable for beginner trail walkers and runners, weekend athletes, families, and those who appreciate identifying plants during the run.
All routes commence within the Botanic Gardens before entering Totara Regional Park. The mid and long courses explore old-growth native forest for a longer duration. Both longer routes converge with the short course in the Nikau forest, ensuring all participants experience a blend of garden and forest terrain, not just a simple park path. The course terrain consists of 55% well-maintained gravel track, 25% paved footpath, and 20% grass. Elevation varies from 53m on the short course to 227m on the long course. Camp Quality serves as the official charity partner.
