Boulder Bay Classic Trail Run 2026

The Boulder Bay Classic begins and ends at Taylors Mistake Beach Carpark, near Christchurch. The 10km off-road race takes place on the Godley Head Track in November. Christchurch Avon Athletic Club organizes the event. The route is suitable for newer trail runners, yet it demands consistent effort on a rolling coastal path. Runners depart the beach, circumnavigate the peninsula around Boulder Bay, passing old huts and gun emplacements, before ascending to the summit of Godley Head. The return journey utilizes a grassed farm track before rejoining the Godley Head Pathway to the finish. Participants range from experienced athletes to novices and families. A Kids Dash, approximately 700m to 1200m, is held near the prize-giving area for those under 13. Spot prizes are awarded, and one participant described the event as well organised with ample encouragement provided throughout.
