North Shore Marathon

Milford Reserve serves as the start for the North Shore Marathon, a road race following the North Shore coastline instead of back streets. The course forms a loop, passing through Milford, Takapuna, Narrow Neck, and Cheltenham Beaches, then circling Maungauika/North Head reserve. It offers a blend of sea air, road running pace, and city-edge scenery, making the miles feel diverse. Expect road and path running with coastal sections, beach views, and the ascent around North Head rewarded with views across the Hauraki Gulf to Rangitoto Island. The participants include not only competitive racers but also runners, walkers, families, and children. A notable quirk is the "DOC Tunnels Loop," with the clarification that no actual tunnels are involved.
