Owen Delany Park hosts a nighttime trail run that enters forest and geothermal areas near Wairakei Resort and adjacent trail systems. The Possum Night Trail Run transforms the after-work headlamp experience into a race: a dark-sky adventure featuring light effects, reflective markers, and a forest atmosphere instead of road-race refinement.
Expect single-track, park, and bush terrain, ridgelines, climbs, geothermal boardwalks, bridges, and descents finished under headlamps. Participants include families, walkers, novice runners, and those new to night trails, as well as experienced runners familiar with the enjoyment of moving by headlamp. Marshals provide direction, but the unique appeal lies in the "trails that feel made for after-dark adventure."
