Alpin Sport Tatrzański Bieg Pod Górę is a point-to-point mountain race in Zakopane that finishes on the summit of Kasprowy Wierch, 1,986 meters above sea level. It starts at rondo Jana Pawła II and sends runners uphill for 8.5 km on a mountain trail, with 1,072 meters of climbing packed into a short route. The race has run continuously since 2008 and is one of Poland’s older mountain-running events. It also hosts the Polish Skyrunning Vertical KM Championships every year; the field is small but serious, with a participant limit of 350. The route is simple to understand and hard to run: start in Zakopane, climb toward the Tatras, and finish high on Kasprowy Wierch instead of looping back down. Alpin Sport Zakopane has organized it from the beginning, with the aim of building mountain running in Poland. The race’s history includes a past European Championships edition, and its first winners were Daniel Wosik and Martina Merkova. Practical mountain logistics are part of the event: the entry covers the Tatra National Park fee, runners get a warm drink at the summit, and the descent is handled by cable car.
