The Legnicki Bieg Niepodległości is a 5 km Independence Day run in Legnica, organized by the city’s Ośrodek Sportu i Rekreacji. The start and finish are traditionally beside the OSiR headquarters on Najświętszej Marii Panny street, and the main race is run in the evening over four laps. The event also gives younger runners their own races, with distances set by age group, and children can be registered on the day.
The program includes a non-competitive Nordic walking march before the main run, covering one 1,250 m lap on the same central street. Finishers receive commemorative medals, including the children and youth runners, whose numbers have been growing. The field is local and mixed: recent editions have had more than 300 people complete the 5 km, with support from Legnica schools, the Wojskowa Szkoła Średnia im. Zawiszy Czarnego, Legnickie Morsy, Well Fitness, Marsa, and the local sanitary-epidemiological station.
