The Ślężański Festiwal Biegowy begins and ends near the shelter in Sobótka, located at the base of Mount Ślęża in Poland. This event is a mountain trail festival, not a road race. Its program offers various distances: short, half-marathon, marathon, ultra-distance, and relay options within the festival structure. The race originated from the Górski Półmaraton Ślężański im. Adama Palichleba and has now reached its eleventh edition.
The courses incorporate Ślęża’s ascents and descents, providing runners with challenging uphill segments and technical downhill running, distinct from flat road surfaces. The listed trail distances are 10.2 km, 22 km, 42 km, and 80.2 km. The relay race divides the distance into legs of 10.5 km, 32.5 km, and 23 km. The festival holds ITRA certification, and all its races are eligible for ITRA National League points. The participant numbers are modest, fostering a sense of community among mountain runners, with a peak attendance of just over five hundred participants.
