São Silvestre de Lisboa

São Silvestre de Lisboa begins and ends on Avenida da Liberdade, a principal avenue in Lisbon's center. Runners assemble near Praça dos Restauradores for a 10K race held on a December night. The event has taken place annually since 2008, attracting a substantial number of participants; recent races have seen up to 15,000 runners, and over 161,000 individuals have competed in its initial 18 years. The course crosses the core of Lisbon, leading participants towards the Tagus riverside area, with streets still adorned with Christmas lights. HMS Sports manages the event, collaborating with Lisbon City Hall. The schedule also features São Silvestre da Pequenada, a children's race for ages 5 to 11, offering various shorter distances. All participants who finish are awarded a medal, catering to competitive runners aiming for a quick 10K, recreational runners concluding the year with a city run, and families participating with their children.
