Sunset Trail São João das Barreiras 2026

Sunset Trail São João das Barreiras is a late-afternoon trail running and walking event held in São João das Barreiras, Vila Cova, Barcelos. The race offers a 14 km trail run, with the official route measured at 14.80 km. A shorter 7 km walk is available, intended for families and those preferring a more relaxed pace. The longer course involves a 632-meter climb and a 631-meter descent, ascending from 90 meters above sea level to a peak of 397 meters, presenting a compact yet hilly challenge rather than a flat village circuit. The route crosses rural trails in the vicinity, passing by waterfalls. A combined aid station for food and drink is scheduled. Competitive runners have an early objective with the BestCar Automóveis intermediate sprint at km 2.2. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the 14 km race. The event concludes with a São João festival featuring traditional food, beverages, and live music, contributing to the atmosphere of a local gathering as much as a competition.
