Trail Alte Algarve

Trail Alte Algarve is part of a larger sports day in Alte, a village within the municipality of Loulé in Portugal’s Algarve region. It combines ALTE TRAIL with the established BTT ALTE mountain-bike event, meaning the same schedule guides trail runners and cyclists into the hills in April for challenging off-road competitions, distinct from a standard road-running event. The courses are held entirely within Geoparque Algarvensis, a UNESCO World Geopark, providing the event a distinct local character beyond just the race distances. Escola Profissional de Alte organizes it, with backing from the Algarve Cycling Association, Loulé Municipal Chamber, and the Parish Council of Alte. The races are integrated into Alte’s Cultural Week, drawing hundreds of athletes and visitors from across Portugal, filling the village with music, regional food, crafts, and a shared festival atmosphere centered around trails and cycling.
