Mogadouro's race name, Trilhos de Mogadouro - Amendoeiras em Flor, signifies almond trees in bloom. This mountain-style trail event takes place in the Bragança District of northeastern Portugal, typically in early March. Participants can choose between a short trail of approximately 11-12 km and a longer trail of about 21-21.5 km, with a nature walk offered as part of the program.
The courses follow rural tracks and hills surrounding Mogadouro, deviating from a flat road-race format. This setup suits runners seeking climbs, natural scenery, and a challenging trail experience. Walkers participate alongside runners, and youth races for ages 9 to 17 occur near the finish line, located in the town center or at the Fair and Exhibition Park, varying by edition. The Municipality of Mogadouro, in collaboration with the Bragança athletics community, organizes the event. Past editions also involved connections with Portuguese mountain-running and mountaineering organizations, including the National Mountain Circuit.
