Växjö Marathon is a Swedish marathon held in Växjö each October by the local club Växjö Löparklubb. Its defining feature is eight flat laps around Växjö Lake, on a course that is mostly asphalt with a short section of dirt road. The cool autumn weather and easy footing contribute to its reputation as Sweden’s Fastest Course.
It is Sweden’s second largest marathon, drawing hundreds of participants. The race program also includes a relay and a children’s race. The lake loop offers runners repeated opportunities to assess the same stretch, establish a rhythm, and frequently pass aid stations. The setting also holds a local resonance: Växjö’s name is derived from "väg" and "sjö," referencing the road over the frozen lake that farmers once used to reach the marketplace that developed into the city.
