Vårruset Östersund is a spring evening run by Lake Storsjön, with the start and finish located north of Badhusparken at the old Yrancampingen. It is the Östersund stop on the nationwide Vårruset tour, and it keeps the format simple: choose 2.5 km or 5 km, then run, jog, or walk it alone, with friends, or with colleagues. The 5 km route is officially measured, and runners on that distance can choose official timing or skip it, in which case no result is published. The fee is the same either way.
The course follows the shore of Storsjön rather than heading deep into town, so the race feels tied to the lake from the event area to the finish. It is built for a broad field, with recommended minimum ages by distance and younger participants allowed when accompanied by an adult. Individual entries are available, but the team option is a significant part of the setup: teams have five people and receive a picnic after finishing. Everyone receives a bib, medal, and finish bag, and the event also includes a Vårruset music quiz with prizes. The local organizer is St Olavsgruppen, with bib pickup handled through Intersport Östersund.
