Beh na Pustý hrad is a short uphill race in Zvolen, Slovakia. It begins at SNP Square and concludes at Pustý hrad, the ruined castle overlooking the town. The primary race covers 6 km with approximately 300 meters of elevation gain, presenting a challenging climb rather than a flat road race. Held in October, it features children’s races in the morning, followed by the main categories later. The course incorporates asphalt, forest road, and stairs, creating a mixed-surface event distinct from a typical city circuit.
The participants are divided into men’s and women’s age groups. One recorded edition saw 114 runners, indicating a local and competitive atmosphere rather than a large-scale event. The race is a component of the Zvolen Running League and has reached its thirteenth year. Children compete over 400 meters, with on-site registration and free entry. The main race utilizes chip timing. The post-race activities include refreshments, medals, awards for the top three finishers in each category, and a tombola at the starting area. Previous course records on a slightly different 5.8 km route with 350 meters of climbing were 26:28 for men and 30:23 for women.
