With more than thirty editions behind it, the race also works as a playful sporting start to the Christmas season in the city.

Carrera Popular de Navidad Gójar is a Christmas-season 10 km popular race in Gójar, a town in Granada. The start and finish are at Plaza del Ayuntamiento, and the main race uses urban circuits rather than a point-to-point route. There is also a 5 km walking option, so the event is not only for runners chasing a time. The field is built around local, family-friendly participation, with categories from Sub 8 through Sub 18 plus absolute general and local categories. Awards are given by category, and the race adds a raffle for participants, a runner's bag, and a prize for the best costume, which gives the day more of a community holiday feel than a standard road race.
